Anyone who has photographed a Jewish bar mitzvah, bat mitzvah, wedding, or any family simcha knows that getting little kids to cooperate for portraits can sometimes be a challenge. After a long day of excitement, dancing, and family photos, young children can quickly lose their patience.
Bringing a small bag of mini marshmallows can give younger kids something to look forward to and help keep them motivated during family and bar mitzvah portraits. Instead of asking them to stand still for “just one more picture,” you can turn it into a fun little reward system.
The key is to keep it simple: a few marshmallows between shots can make a surprisingly big difference. It keeps the mood positive, doesnt make a mess or stain their clothes, gives the kids something to focus on, and can help the photography session move along much more smoothly.
As a New Jersey photographer specializing in Jewish events and bar mitzvah photography, I’ve learned that sometimes the little things make the biggest difference. And when a few mini marshmallows help us get that perfect family portrait, they’re definitely worth packing!
